YANGON
Is
the present capital of Myanmar. Yangon has a unique
charm with its old colonial buildings, tree-lined streets, bustling
local markets and tranquil lakes. Other interesting places to visit
include the massive Shwedagon Pagoda, Sule Pagoda, the National
Museum and Bogyoke Market.

MANDALAY
Was
the last capital of historic Myanmar Kingdom. Mandalay is
now Myanmar's second capital city. It is a city of markets and religious
monuments. Mandalay is also the economic and religious center
of Upper Myanmar. Places of interest around the city are the old
Royal Palace, Mandalay Hill and Zaychotaw Market. Gold leaf making,
tapestry weaving, stone carving, and silk weaving are also
interesting and worth visiting the workshops.

BAGAN
Bagan is
the main tourist attraction in Myanmar. It is one of the richest archeological
sites in Asia and the capital of the first Myanmar Empire. Bagan
covers an area of 42 square kilometers containing over 2000 well
preserved pagodas and temples dating from the 11th century.
The founder of Bagan Empire was King (1044-1077). Nowadays,
numerous pagodas and other religious buildings, many of them
in ruins, can be visited. They are an irrefutable proof of the prosperity
of the Bagan Empire.

INLAY LAKE
Is
a vast picturesque lake, 900 meters above sea level, is another
of the main tourist attractions in Myanmar. The lake, 22 km long
and 10 km across, has a population of some 150,000, many of whom
live on floating islands of vegetation. Inlay Lake, natural and
unpolluted, is famous for its scenic beauty and unique leg rowing
of the lnthas, the native lake dwellers.

THE GOLDEN ROCK
The mystical Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda stands on a
gold gilded boulder, which is precariously perched on the
edge of a hill and is over 1100 km above sea level. There are many
legends about this pagoda and its 'nats' or spirits.

MYITKYINA
Myitkyina is
the capital city of Kachin State. From Myitkyina, visitors can tour
the confluence (Myitsone) of the Malikha and Maykha Rivers, the
source of the Ayeyar-waddy River. Kachin Traditional Manau Dances
are performed yearly on Kachin State Day. There are regular flights
to Myitkyina from Yangon and Mandalay.

PUTAO
Putao is
situated in the northern most part of Myanmar. Putao is surrounded
by snow-capped mountains and is cold the whole year round. There
are many varieties of citrus fruit grown in the orchards. It is
the nearest town to the base camp for climbing Mount Khakabo Razi
(5889 meters), which is at edge of the Himalayas and is the highest
mountain in Myanmar and Southeast Asia.
